Beinn Bhreagh Hall Summer Home

Winner of the 2021 Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals Award of Merit in Conservation Engineering, this 1890s stone masonry and wood frame building was constructed for inventor Sir Alexander Graham Bell.  It was used as a family summer home and a gathering site for some of the most famous intellectuals of the time.  The building required a cohesive vision of conservation to avoid unnecessary destruction of its character and value.  Heritage Standing Inc. undertook extensive non-destructive assessment to design innovative, minimal, and reversible solutions to ongoing deterioration.  Applying a conservation approach maintained the value of the building and reduced overall costs by half.
