New Brunswick Historic Properties

HSI created structural conservation plans for five Provincial Historic Sites across New Brunswick, including Bonar Law Common, Doak House, MacDonald Farm, Ministers Island, and Sheriff Andrews House. Together, the sites represent a wide range of New Brunswick history, from Loyalist settlement and farming traditions to the birthplace of Prime Minister Andrew Bonar Law.

Heritage Standing Inc. carried out archival research, condition evaluations, and on-site recording across all five properties, with layouts ranging from individual buildings to entire cultural landscapes.

To accommodate limited budgets and the sites' different operating needs, the team developed custom field forms, linked databases, and reporting tools that allowed large amounts of information to be easily organized, accessed, and evaluated. The result was a record of conditions, priorities, and heritage value, creating a practical framework for long-term planning and maintenance.

This information was used to prepare recommendations on the provincial, site, and building scales for government staff and site operators.
